Snack? You read that right! If you know me, you know I like to call my alcoholic beverages snacks. As soon as the air becomes crisp the conversations between Britney and I about when we are going to make and enjoy some Mulled Wine begin. We've made it twice this season so far and every time we like to change up the recipe a bit and experiment. This is what we made the other evening, but feel free to change it up as you wish!
sarah&brit Mulled Wine
Ingredients:
1 Large Bottle of Red Wine (your choice)
1 Half Gallon Apple Cider or Apple Juice
Orange Juice
Captain Morgan (Optional)
Fireball (Optional)
Cinnamon Sticks
Cloves (optional)
Sliced Oranges (optional)
Large Pot or Crock Pot
Directions:
1. Place your large pot on the stove on Medium Heat, or turn your crock pot onto High. If you are using a crock pot, it will take longer to heat the wine. If you are using a pot on the stove, watch your heat. We don't want to burn out all the alcohol!
2. Pour in your bottle of wine; the entire bottle :)
3. Add in your Apple Cider. We don't measure when we add. But I would say we do half of the half gallon.
4. Add in your Orange Juice the same as your Apple Cider. The best part about this is once you taste it you can add more of any ingredient if you think it is needed.
5. If you are using any liquor, now is the time to add that. We used Captain Morgan this time.
6. Put in your cinnamon sticks and cloves. We added about 6 to 8 cinnamon sticks and 5 cloves.
7. Add your sliced oranges. We didn't have any this time but we normally put them in the pot and also garnish with them.
8. Heat your Mulled Wine through, making sure to not boil at any time. Once to the temp you like, you can turn it down to keep warm. You can also heat on the stove and then transfer to the crock pot for all day sipping!
We would love to hear if you have twists and tricks to try for your own mulled wine recipe. We love trying new things! Now grab your bestie and enjoy some wine! Cheers!
